Questions and answers

What people usually want to know before they join the beta.

What is Race Twin?

Race Twin is a Windows app for sim racers. It builds a live model of your race from the sim's telemetry, which we call the twin, and gives you a race engineer who talks to you over the radio about what is happening. It also draws track maps from your laps, works out your fuel to the flag and shows overlays on top of the sim.

Which sims does it work with?

iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa EVO. Each sim is supported through a plugin that you install from the catalogue inside the app. Assetto Corsa EVO does not share other cars' timing, so there the engineer cannot tell you gaps or places yet.

What do I need to run it?

A Windows PC that runs your sim, a microphone if you want to talk to your engineer, and an internet connection for the engineer and its voice. A button on your wheel or button box works well for push to talk, though a keyboard key does the job too.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The twin, the track maps, the fuel calculator and the overlays all run on your PC, so they keep working offline. The race engineer needs a connection, because its replies and its voice are produced on our servers.

What data leaves my PC?

Your telemetry stays on your PC. When your engineer speaks or answers you, the app sends a short written summary of the moment to our server, and when you hold push to talk, your voice is sent to be turned into text. The privacy policy has the details.

Do I need to set anything up in Le Mans Ultimate?

Yes. Le Mans Ultimate only shares its data with plugins when Enable Plugins is turned on, under Settings, then Gameplay, in the game.

Can I change how my engineer talks?

Yes. Its character is set in the app's settings, from how chatty it is to its sense of humour. If you ask it to be quiet on the radio, it will be.

Can I put the overlays on my stream?

Yes. Every overlay can also be added to OBS as a browser source, so you can show the radio, the race clock or your fuel on stream.

How do I get access?

Race Twin is in a closed beta. Join the list on this site and we will email you an invite as places open. With your invite you create an account, install the app and sign in.

What does it cost?

Taking part in the closed beta costs nothing. Pricing for after the beta has not been set yet.

How does the app stay up to date?

The app checks for new versions when it starts. When one is out, it tells you what changed and asks before installing it. Sim plugins update from the plugin catalogue in the same way.
